Chicken cooked in butter

Ayam means chicken, Goreng means “fried” just like Nasi Goreng, and Mentega means butter.

That means chicken cooked in butter, but the flavor of the butter is rather understated. The chicken has a slightly sweet taste with a hint of butter.

If you’re a fan of beef bowls or nikujaga, this might be for you.

People may think, “Eh, sweet chicken?” but onions and sweet seasonings have a somewhat gyudon, sukiyaki, or nikujaga feel to them, and Japanese people who are familiar with salty-sweet seasonings may enjoy them without feeling uncomfortable.

The pungent spiciness is mild, and there are few unique quirks.
Maybe you’ve had similar dishes at home.

If you don’t know much about Indonesian food and still feel a little uncomfortable, you might want to try Ayam Goreng Mentega.
